WHATS NEW?

You are invited to our first Community Forum Theatre Performance that will raise awareness on issues faced by LGBTQ+ Newcomers. November 25. Two performances: 2:30pm to 3:30pm and 5pm to 6pm. Held at The Robby, upper hall. Offered in partnership with Brock University. This event is FREE and everyone is welcome. For more info: crothman@folk-arts.ca.

SETTLEMENT WORKSHOPS

Prenatal care: an educational workshop for newcomer expectant parents Nov 18; 10:45am to 12pm; The Robby-lower hall.

YOUTH

Programming for youth age 13 and up:

Life skills sessions: Come every Monday from 2:30 to 4:30pm to learn valuable skills and prepare yourself for the future. Topics include: Financial literacy, tenancy, education/career planning, driving 101. Youth Lounge.

Youth Group: meets Wednesdays at 2:30pm.

Youth trip to Toronto: November 15th. Registration with Kristen in Room 2.

Volunteering: Come with us to volunteer at Community Care on the last Wednesday of each month.

Basketball Leadership Camp: Every Saturday from 10am to11:30am.

Chop-Chop Group: preparing food for the needy
We invite all newcomers to volunteer while practicing conversational English. Group meets November 6 and 20, from 12:30pm to 2pm in the “Robby” kitchen.
All Women’s Swimming at Kiwanis Centre, every Sunday 4:30pm to 6pm. Register with Zainab in Room 2.
Wellness Activity: Gentle Zumba – Fitness & fun every Tuesday at 2pm in the “Robby”.
Men’s Ping Pong Club; Mondays, 12:30pm; Youth Lounge.

50+ Group

Volunteer Group: Craft-making for a local charity Join Irene on Thursdays at 1pm, Room 14. Learn and give back!

Cooking and Sharing: Cooking a meal for a local shelter; November 27 at 12:30pm, in the “Robby” kitchen.

Orientation to Ontario; A Workshop for newcomers to Ontario and Niagara;
Oct. 15, 16 & 17; 9am to 12pm; the “Robby”-lower hall. This Workshop is offered in English.

NOTE: This same workshop will be offered in Mandarin in January and Arabic in February.

Experiential Language Program. Mandarin speaking newcomers with low English skills, age 50+ are welcome to join Jingjing on Wednesdays from 3pm to 6pm in the “Robby”.

Trip to Hamilton’s Market and to Gage Park for the Mum Show Festival. Friday October 18, $10 (includes bus, entrance and light refreshment package)
