"I have 17 years of teaching experience in Zimbabwe, Africa. I hold a Bachelor of Education Degree in Fashion and Textiles and a Diploma in Clothing and Textiles technology. I have 23 years experience in designing, pattern and garment making.
When I came to Canada I started a totally new career path as a PSW (Frontline Health Worker) professional so that I could get a stable income since I have family back in Africa to look after. However, this did not stop my passion for designing. I have learnt to balance between my health profession and my designing business. I have done a number of different sewing projects and currently I am doing designing and sewing for Fogey Tweed Clothing company in Niagara Falls.
I have limited space in my house to be able to do designing and cutting of bigger items. I have one domestic sewing machine and when it breaks down, it affects my production until it gets fixed.
I would like to thank Venture Niagara for providing me with a $500 financial boost I will use to purchase the tools and supplies I need. I would also like to thank the Niagara Folk Arts for helping me and guiding me along the way. I believe it is not where you are in life but who you have by your side!"
